Dear People For Supporter,

With the recent news of the “QAnon shaman” being sentenced to 41 months in
prison, it’s easy and convenient to laugh off the January 6th
insurrectionists as a bunch of irrelevant flakes.

Unfortunately, though – fueled by their belief in Trump’s “Big Lie” about
the 2020 election, and with growing power in today’s Republican party –
this far-right movement poses a very real and significant threat to
American democracy, that must be stopped.

As just one example, the Huffington Post has pointed out that at least 10
Republicans who attended the Stop the Steal rally on January 6th won
elected office around the country this year — and many more will be up for
election next year.^[ [link removed] ]

Here at People For, we’re working to expose and disrupt these
insurrectionists, but we need your help to ramp up our work in 2022.

[1]Will you renew your People For membership with a generous donation
today to help us fight this growing trend?

Consider these other signs of the Far Right’s intentions for 2022:

* Mini-insurrections from the Far Right – in the form of disruptions and
death threats against school board members – have now become so
commonplace around the U.S. that the FBI has been forced to create a
special task force to counter them.^[ [link removed] ]

* Juan Savin, a well-connected QAnon influencer with ties to Hollywood
celebrities like Jim Caviezel and Roseanne Barr, is now recruiting
candidates to run for Secretary of State positions in 2022 in order to
control the 2024 elections.^[ [link removed] ]

* QAnon loyalists in multiple places around the country (most notably,
the entire state of Arizona) have completely taken over the Republican
Party and are continuing to push Trump’s “Big Lie,” spread
disinformation about COVID-19 vaccines, and undermine faith in our
democratic system of government.^[ [link removed] ]

And we
hope you understand—these aren’t the "moral majority” activists of your
parents’ days, who were usually kept in check by more moderate elements of
the conservative coalition. This is a new, cult-like movement that’s using
lies and disinformation spread via social media to stoke division, hate
and distrust ... and unfortunately their tactics are working far more
often than they should.

With a 40-year history of fighting extremism, and a team of researchers
and specialists on our Right Wing Watch project dedicated to exposing and
disrupting the Far Right, People For is uniquely qualified to fight this
threat – but we can’t do that without your financial support.

[2]So please renew your 2022 membership early with a generous donation
today to help us stop hate and defend democracy as we look towards the
critical midterm elections next year.

Thanks in advance for your support,

Will Easton, People For's Digital Team
