A monumental threat faces animals in our country. The meat industry is trying to overturn California’s Proposition 12, a historic law passed in 2018 that prohibits the cruel caging of mother pigs, egg-laying hens and baby calves in California and also prohibits the in-state sale of pork, eggs and veal that are products of extreme confinement.

Not surprisingly, the meat industry is desperately trying to overturn this law and has filed three separate lawsuits, one of which is currently on appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States. If successful, this lawsuit could not only overturn California’s Prop 12, it could also threaten laws across the country that protect animals from other terrible cruelties—like the abuse and suffering of dogs in puppy mills, the intensive confinement of wild animals on fur farms and painful tests on animals for cosmetic testing. WE NEED YOUR HELP TO STOP THEM.

The briefs filed by the prior administration in support of the meat industry’s lawsuits have not been withdrawn by the Biden administration, and are actively being used by the industry to support its Supreme Court case. We need your help to stop the unraveling of animals’ most basic protections and this attempt to negate important state laws. TAKE ACTION TODAY.
