Friend -- I ran for Congress to clean up corruption and restore trust and faith in our federal government.

But as we've seen, a culture of corruption breeds more corruption -- often fueled by dark money. The disturbing revelations about Ukraine, Rudy Giuliani, and President Trump show exactly what happens in a broken system where special interests and foreign nationals can buy and trade on influence in D.C.

I will never stop calling out the corrosive influence of dark money in our politics. But that's made me one of the biggest targets of dark money spending in 2020.

Our campaign's October deadline is at midnight tonight. We need to raise the grassroots funds to fend off the PAC attacks that are already coming my way, but the team is telling me that we are still $5,254 short of our goal. Can you join me at this critical time?

I vividly remember the false, misleading, and often vicious ads the National Republican Congressional Committee ran against me in 2018. Who funded many of them? Special interests, of course.

They knew that if we won, they would have one less member of Congress working for them -- and a looser grip on our system. So they shelled out loads of dark money to threaten our chances.

That same dark money is going to be flowing into Minnesota every day until November 3, 2020. If you can, please contribute by midnight tonight to help defend my seat.

No one said that running a grassroots-funded Congressional campaign would be easy, but it is absolutely worth it. Your support gives me the strength to confront corruption head on. It's the most important work I've ever done, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity. Every day.

Thank you,

Dean
