The Charlotte Observer reports that Cheri Beasley is the undeniable front-runner thanks to early, urgent grassroots progressive support—right out of the Stacey Abrams playbook. But NBC local news reports that Donald Trump's hand-picked Senate candidate Ted Budd—a member of the radical right-wing Freedom Caucus—has launched a high-dollar ad blitz boasting his Trump endorsement on every television in the state.
And Mitch McConnell just directed GOP donors to write Ted Budd's campaign a blank check because he knows dark money millions win elections. If Budd successfully crushes Cheri Beasley's historic Senate bid, McConnell will regain control of the chamber, allowing Donald Trump to cash in on his king-maker status in the Republican Party and use his wide, deep establishment support to steal back the White House.
