This season, we’re embracing cooler temperatures, earlier evenings and reaffirming our commitment to reproductive justice and abortion rights.
It’s also been quite the season for abortion rights at the Supreme Court, here’s the latest:
● Texas’ SB8 is still in effect. After declining to stop enforcement on September 1, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments on November 1 for two major lawsuits challenging the ban, including one from the Department of Justice. ● Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization: On December 1, the Supreme Court will hear what will likely be the most consequential abortion rights case in generations. This case from Mississippi calls into question the constitutionality of pre-viability abortion bans and could have the power to undo the legal precedent set by Roe v. Wade.

Self-managed abortion with pills is safe, it works, and it is unstoppable! Despite self-managed abortion being a critical reproductive justice issue, it is often misunderstood.
Information about self-managed abortion with pills belongs to all of us, which is why Reproaction is hosting a training that will teach you everything you need to know, and how to best communicate on this sometimes-misunderstood topic!
This training includes:
-Self-Managed Abortion 101
-How to Identify Reproductive & Abortion Stigma
-Your Values & Self-Managed Abortion
-How to Take Action in your Community
This skills-training is ideal for anyone who wants to learn more about self-managed abortion as well as those familiar and interested in increasing their advocacy on this issue.
Self-care is an intentional practice that roots us in the present despite the oppression we may face. Regular self-care is essential for sustainable and effective activism.
Here are our self-care tips for November:
Take your dog for a walk!Going on walks with my dogs is always a nice serotonin booster for me. Feeling the wind in my face and just focusing on what's in front of me helps in grounding myself after a long day. - Audrey, campaign coordinator based in Dallas, Texas.
Limit your screen time! I find that limiting my time using tools that are already built into my phone helps me refrain from doom-scrolling on social media every day. Some phones let you set your screen time to lock you out after a certain amount of time, and when I try to open my apps after that point, a message appears telling me that "You've reached your limit on _____." It feels a little silly having to limit my own time on my phone, but I find that my mental health is much better for it - Nataley, executive assistant, based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Reject urgency. Especially for those of us working in repro and other social justice fields, it can feel like every new development requires our immediate attention and that not responding quickly enough means we aren't committed enough. By rejecting urgency, we are prioritizing our own capacity, ensuring our response is thoughtful and thorough instead of panicked and rushed, and working to dismantle a toxic work/grind culture that prioritizes productivity over our own well-being. - Kara, senior research analyst based in Arlington, Virginia.
