We're back! Street Surgeries in Bulwell Forest

As Covid restrictions started to ease, your local Councillors held outdoor ward surgeries.

Cllr Cheryl Barnard said “We were really keen to re-engage with residents again in the safest way possible so we held street surgeries to give out information and listen to concerns”.

During August, outdoor street surgeries were held at Rise Park shops, one outside McColls on Highbury Road and a final stall outside of Tesco Top Valley.

Cllr Sam Gardiner commented that “Perhaps predictably; our busiest outdoor street surgery was right outside the entrance of Tesco Top Valley. We met lots of residents, gave out lots of information and picked up on some local issues nearby”.

*Your local Councillors spent the day getting involved in all the activities and meeting people of all ages*.


* Children from Stanstead School litter picked around the walkway on Hucknall Road
* Heathfield School asked their parents about any issues which they thought needed addressing in the local community 
* The parking enforcement team visited Heathfield School to tackle problems with irresponsible parking at school dropping off times
* Heathfield school children litter picked around the Brooklyn park area, checks were made on private rented properties and much more
* Tesco Top Valley hosted a range of organisations on their forecourt for people to find out about local services 
* Bulwell Forest Bowls Club opened their doors to anyone who wanted to learn how to play bowls 
* Bulwell Forest Community Garden and Nottingham City Homes arranged a litter pick around the Bestwood Road area
* The police, fire and Nottingham City Council officers door knocked in an area to talk to residents and fit free smoke alarms where needed

The opening of Alan Clark Grove

*In September, the official opening of Alan Clark Grove where 20 new Nottingham City Home properties have been built took place - the event having been delayed due to Covid restrictions. *

Local residents enjoyed activities such as arts and crafts, planting bulbs, archery and seeing animals brought in for the day by White Post Farm. *The new road was named after the late Cllr Alan Clark and members of his family including Cllr Campbell-Clark planted a tree in his memory.*

Cllr Eunice Campbell-Clark said - “The tree was planted by Alan's sister Krysia and Alan's two mathematic students who he taught prior to his death. I would like to say a big thank you to all the staff at Nottingham City Homes, Eden Futures and a special thank you to Chris Easton and Celia Knight our Neighbourhood Development Officer for all their hard work.”

Christmas in Bulwell

Come along to Bulwell Market Place on Wednesday, December 1 from 9am – 4pm where local community groups will be having Christmas stalls. 

The scouts, Guides, Bulwell Forest Bowls Club, Helping Kids Achieve, Highbury Live and Bulwell Forest Garden are some of the stallholders who would love to see you there.

A very big *Thank You* to all the schoolchildren who are making decorations for the Bulwell Christmas tree.  Some of the decorations will also be in display in Bulwell  Riverside Library and in the shops taking part in the Bulwell Christmas shop window competition. 

We hope you enjoy the Christmas lights in Bulwell Town Centre and at the Rise Park shops.

Don't get caught out this Christmas

Nottingham City Council’s Trading Standards team are asking Nottingham residents to be careful when buying presents for children


* *Look for the CE or UKCA mark:* These symbols on the label or box mean the manufacturer has assessed the toy for safety
* *Button-batteries can kill:*  Check they are screwed in firmly and safely before giving to a child
* *Check age restrictions:* Toys must be clearly marked with age restrictions - always follow them, they’re there for a reason

*Warm Home Discount*
