Years of tireless campaigning. Months of relentless pressure from the #EndSewagePollution campaign. Yes, the Environment Bill is now law as the Environment Act 2021.
We won't pretend the Act is perfect. But, we also won't shy away from our successes. Like new legal duties on water companies. Duties that wouldn't be in the law without the collective pressure from Ocean Activists like you.
✅ Water companies must provide real-time information any time a Sewer Overflow discharges⠀
✅ Water companies must monitor and report on the impact of sewage discharges⠀
✅ Government must publish a plan to tackle sewage pollution and present to parliament by 2022⠀
✅ Water companies must progressively reduce the adverse impact of discharges from storm overflows⠀
So, thank you. For emailing your MP. For sharing a campaign post. For talking to friends about the urgency of our cause. These are all acts of Ocean Activism powering us towards our vision of a thriving ocean, thriving people.

DID COP26 COP OUT?
COP26 has been and gone. Two weeks of non-stop negotiations, protests and climate action, with hundreds of thousands taking to the streets around the globe. Ocean Activists across the country rallied on streets and beaches, shouting for the demands of our #OceanEmergency petition to be met. Thank you.
And the ocean did form part of the climate debate at COP, like never before. Proof that our collective voice can impact the global agenda.
But (and it's a big but), the pledges made at COP were simply not good enough. We are still on track for over 2C warming. A temperature rise with catastrophic consequences for human life on the planet.
We will not relent in our pressure on the UK to #ActNow and keep 1.5C alive. Our collective future demands it.

2021 Water Quality Report launch (25/11)
Get ready for more jaw-dropping, fist-clenching revelations about the state of UK waters. Help amplify our anger by reading the report and sharing our posts - the #EndSewagePollution campaign has momentum - let's keep the pressure up.
2021 SAS fundraising appeal (30/11 - 7/12)
For one week, starting on 30 November, any donation to SAS will be doubled by the Big Give, up to our target of £40,000. If you're able to donate, put a note in your diary and see your contribution to our fight for the ocean get doubled.
