The King's Chronicle: November 18, 2021
Happy American Education Week, Team! This week we celebrate public education and honor all the amazing educators and school staff who work tirelessly to guarantee every student has the tools to succeed in and out of the classroom. Especially as the GOP continues to blow their Critical Race Theory dog whistles, it's more important than ever that we stand up to defend our teachers.
More than that, we need to elect leaders with real education authority and expertise, who will lead by listening, and who will be the best advocate for Maryland schools and students. We need John King, and we're so glad to have your support as we build this movement to elect a teacher as governor.
Onward,
-Team King
PS: This Saturday in Prince George's County, District Heights Mayor Johnathan Medlock is hosting an event with John! RSVP by clicking here: [link removed] or check out the invitation below for more details— we hope you can join us!
TEAM KING UPDATES

ENDORSEMENT ALERT : At-large Frederick County Councilman Kai Hagen endorsed John King for Governor of Maryland following the release of King’s plan to make Maryland a national leader in the fight against climate change. Councilman Hagen had previously endorsed Comptroller Peter Franchot, but switched his support after the Comptroller’s controversial vote on the I-270/495 toll lane expansion.
JOHN IN THE NEWS
MARYLAND MATTERS: John King on Climate: 'Many of My Opponents Have Vague Policy Platitudes'
"King released his climate action plan earlier this month, and while it may not have as many provisions as those of some of his opponents, he does appear to provide more details on how he plans to meet his goals than most of his opponents. King pledges to get Maryland to net-zero carbon emissions by 2035, with an interim goal of a 60% greenhouse gas emissions reduction by 2030, and his plan lays out specific goals for distinct sectors. King refers to it as 'a whole of society approach to tackling climate.' The list of priorities is broad and deep."

Last week, John went on MSNBC to talk with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC to discuss how Critical Race Theory has become a talking point for the GOP to fear-monger voters into supporting them.

PROMISE TO PROGRESS: HOW MARYLAND WILL LEAD THE FIGHT AGAINST CLIMATE CHANGE
"Climate change is an existential threat to humanity. I am frightened for my young daughters’ futures and I am sure many readers feel the same way. We no longer have the time to be complacent or think about the climate crisis as some far-off issue for our children and grandchildren to solve. ....I’m running for Governor to take the promise of a sustainable, livable future and turn it into the progress we so desperately need."
