I’m heading back from the COP26 Climate Summit.

 I was at COP26. 

 Here’s why I’m more 

 determined than ever to 

 act for the planet. 
 
Global Citizen,

 

I’m writing this email as I depart Glasgow - where I spent the past two weeks
at theCOP26 Climate Conference. As a Nigerian climate activist, I went to COP26
to amplify the unheard voices of Africa’s youth. Despite contributing the least
to climate change, our communities are at the frontline of its impacts, from
increased flooding to intensifying droughts.

 

I came to COP26 with high hopes. I wanted to see bold commitments to
transition away from fossil fuels. I wanted to see wealthy countries deliver on
their promise to help developing and least developed nations build
climate-resilient societies. Most of all, I wanted to see the world come
together to ensure a greener future. 

 

It didn’t happen. The world’s wealthiest countries didn’t go far enough, and
the summit failed to deliver the radical action we so desperately need.

 But rather than losing 

 hope, I’m leaving 

 Glasgow more 

 determined than ever.

Here’s why: During the conference, I saw the seeds of progress, agreements
were made on the world’s largest marine protection zones, groundbreaking
pledges came through on methane reduction, and progress was made to protect the
world's forests. 

 

Most of all, I joined tens of thousands of activists outside in the street. We
marched together, united in a demand for urgent climate action. The power of
our collective voice was overwhelming - and it left me feeling inspired for our
future.

 

COP26 may be over — but the momentum must continue. Let’s show those in power
that the world is still watching. Join me intaking action
