Hi Revealer,

In case you missed it: Following a recent episode of "The Problem with Jon Stewart" ([link removed]) (available only through an Apple News subscription), the award-winning satirist, political commentator and host of the television show presented a list of essential reading for viewers to deepen their understanding of the link between gun violence and domestic abuse. We are deeply honored that Stewart handpicked our searing investigation, Armed and Abusive: How America’s Gun Laws Are Failing Domestic Violence Victims ([link removed]) , which we also published in The Guardian. You can learn more about our investigation in the email below.

None of this vital journalism would be possible without your support. Thank you!

Hi Revealer,

In our recent investigation, When Abusers Keep Their Guns ([link removed]) , Reveal reporter Jennifer Gollan broke important new ground on a horrifying loophole: While federal gun laws and many state statutes prohibit domestic abusers from owning firearms, these laws are enforced on an honor system that relies on people who are prohibited from possessing firearms to disarm themselves. Many abusers never relinquish these guns, and their intimate partners pay the price.

To reach the most people and create the most impact, we created versions of this story across all our major platforms:
* When Abusers Keep Their Guns ([link removed]) , which was a full episode of Reveal
* Armed and Abusive: How America’s Gun Laws Are Failing Domestic Violence Victims ([link removed]) , a long-form story we also published in The Guardian
* “Unrelinquished," ([link removed]) a documentary produced in collaboration with Al Jazeera English’s “Fault Lines”
* A campaign seeking the public’s help in investigating homicides involving domestic abusers ([link removed])
* A database to catalogue the number of people killed by intimate partners who are prohibited from possessing guns

I’m thrilled to tell you that this investigation is already getting the attention of lawmakers: On Oct. 20, U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell organized a congressional screening of “Unrelinquished” on Capitol Hill. We’ll keep you updated on how this investigation continues to advance our mission to change minds, lives and laws.

As the first investigative journalism nonprofit, we have a legacy of producing award-winning videos ([link removed]) , podcast episodes ([link removed]) and digital pieces ([link removed]) . But we rely on the generosity of our viewers, listeners and readers to fund this work. Please consider donating today to support courageous investigative journalism.
