Hi folks —

After record voter turnout in the 2020 election, Republicans latched themselves on to Donald Trump and weaponized his baseless lies of voter fraud, calling for mail-in votes to be thrown out and passing legislation to suppress the vote — all to further their own political gain.

Now, Republicans in state legislatures are turning to gerrymandering, passing extremely partisan legislative maps to ensure they’ll be the ones choosing our representatives for the next decade, not the voters.

But as we know all too well, right-wing attempts to suppress the vote through partisan gerrymandering in our state are far from new. In 2011, Wisconsin Republicans passed a partisan map so extreme that a panel of federal judges declared it unconstitutional.

Just last week, Republicans in our state’s legislature passed a map that looks almost identical to the one they passed a decade ago — once again gerrymandering districts to make it easier for them to win for the next 10 years, and silencing the voices of thousands of Wisconsinites in the process. We must fight back.

I’m calling on Congress to pass the Freedom to Vote Act to end partisan gerrymandering and protect our sacred right to vote. If you’re with me, sign your name next to mine on our petition demanding fair maps for folks in Wisconsin and across the country.
