John —
Today, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt commuted Julius Jones’ sentence to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
We are all relieved that Oklahoma will not be executing Julius, and we also know that this decision will not immediately bring him home to his family and that his fight for freedom is not over.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends, loved ones, and the entire community of people who have all worked so hard to save Julius’ life — and who we know will continue to fight every day until he is free.
Take a moment right now to share the news about Julius’ clemency on Twitter and Instagram.

We want to give a huge shoutout to Julius’ legal team and his lawyer, Amanda Bass, as well as Rev. Cece Jones-Davis and the entire Justice for Julius team for their courageous efforts that led to this day.
We also want to thank everyone in this community who took action in support of Julius — it’s because of people like you that Julius will live. Advocacy works. And we’re going to keep fighting.
With deep gratitude,
— The Innocence Project
