On Monday November 15, 2021, President Joe Biden signed into law H.R. 3684, the $1.2 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act), a “once-in-a-generation investment in our nation’s infrastructure and competitiveness”.
When politicians talk about infrastructure, people generally think of roads and bridges. As Radical Imagination host Angela Glover Blackwell argued in her 2018 op-ed, though, it is essential that we expand our vision of vital infrastructure to include the complete array of people’s needs and redesign a society in which all can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential.
Join Angela this Friday, November 19, at 12-1 pm PT / 3-4 pm ET to explore how we can use this opportunity created by the Infrastructure Law to push for an equitable and lasting recovery, not just from the coronavirus crisis but the past few decades of disinvestment as well. The Act that Congress passed looks to address some of the most important needs for millions of poor and working-class Americans: reliable high-speed internet, access to clean and safe water, climate change mitigation and resilience, remediating environmental harms, and more. Investments that lift up the most vulnerable among us lift us all up by creating a nimbler workforce, better educated society and healthier families.
Now is the time to ensure that all people — regardless of race, income, or zip code — live in healthy communities of opportunity. We want to hear from you about how best we can engage our radical imagination in making this a reality.
In solidarity,
Team Radical Imagination
