Hi team,
President Biden signed the bipartisan infrastructure bill into law on Monday, a groundbreaking victory for our country and our Commonwealth. “Infrastructure” has been a priority of Republican and Democratic presidents alike for decades, but with Democrats in control of Congress and the White House, we got it done.
It wasn’t easy, but I fought to secure significant funding for Massachusetts:
-
$4.2 billion to improve highways.
-
$1.1 billion to repair bridges.
-
$1.1.billion for clean drinking water.
-
$2.5 billion to improve public transportation, including repairing and upgrading bus and rail fleets and making stations more accessible.
-
And much, much more.
In today’s political environment, it can seem nearly impossible to work across the aisle and pass legislation that will have a significant impact on daily life. But that’s exactly what this bipartisan legislation will do.
We aren’t done yet. We won’t stop until the Build Back Better Act is passed, which will build on the progress we made with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Law. I look forward to celebrating this victory for Massachusetts and then getting right back to work.
Onward,
Lori Trahan
P.S. These are the kind of victories we can expect if Democrats keep control of the House: passing legislation to improve the lives of working families. If you believe in this work and want to see it continue, consider a donation today.
