John,
To the thousands of you that joined us for the first-ever PRA day yesterday -- thank you.
PRA Day was a day of growth, love, and people, and while we’re all over the country, we’ve got a shared vision that would empower and center every person in communities across the entire country.
If you couldn’t join PRA Day yesterday but still want to be a part of this critical work, please add your name to the petition to become a community co-sponsor of the People’s Response Act.
We’ve said it time and again: In any situation where someone is calling for help, the person responding should be equipped with the training and tools that best serve our communities. The person should not be an armed police officer. It should be someone who knows how to approach the situation, not someone who risks escalating a situation into a violent, perhaps fatal, one.
Black people deserve to thrive -- not merely survive.
The People’s Response Act would implement a system of public safety that doesn’t resort to white supremacist systems of violence and policing, but a system that centers care, mental health, and community.
That’s why the People's Response Act is so crucial. Sign the petition below to become a community co-sponsor >>
There’s so much more work to be done -- but for now, let’s continue to use our people-power through community co-sponsorship and make sure our legislators know who holds the power.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation
