We’ve been working diligently with various partners to map their competency frameworks and skills into the Registry to facilitate alignments between credential providers and jobs. For example:

* National industry associations, like the National Retail Federation ([link removed](National_Retail_Federation)) , not only provide their skills in the Registry but also connect their skills to credentials and pathways.
* Leading institutions like Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana ([link removed]) have published their educational competencies.
* And in-demand 21st-century skills are richly described in CTDL by Education Design Lab ([link removed]) .

To help others see the value of bringing greater transparency to competencies, Credential Engine and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) have collaborated on a four-part blog series ([link removed]) exploring competency transparency in our learning and labor market systems, the potential role that postsecondary institutions can play, and the work needed to get there. [link removed] Transparency is Essential to Attaining State Policymaker Goals

This new resource from Credential Engine concisely and effectively explains the importance of credential transparency and the need to advance and support it through timely policy. Included are numerous examples of the diverse ways that states across the country are prioritizing credential transparency and using it to advance various state goals. As policymakers create data systems for credential transparency, they should ensure that these systems: Describe credentials using a common language; tap into a shared repository so stakeholders have access to up-to-date information without duplicating efforts; and are actionable so stakeholders can use the information to inform their decisions. We encourage you to read and share the document across your networks ([link removed]) .

[link removed] Launch of the Credential Approval Lists Task Group

Since October 27, we have successfully launched the Credential Approval List Task Group ([link removed]) (CALTG) and drafted a charter. This Task Group aims to address real-world needs by expanding both the Credential Transparency Description Language (CTDL) and supported use cases for credential approval lists. The use cases will be aimed at improving the way organizations provide approved credential lists as public information that enables search and discovery. In fact, recent suggested changes to the CTDL from the our Task Group on Contextualizing Skills and Competencies ([link removed]) were recently approved and finalized. CTDL and the Credential Registry are vital technologies that connect currently siloed data and make credential information public to
promote data-informed decision-making. The CALTG will focus on the CTDL terms supported by the Credential Registry and members are encouraged to look at where there are opportunities with information management and curation processes that these technologies can play a significant role. The task group will next meet on November 22, 2021, at 1 pm ET. Learn more and join ([link removed]) .
