Earlier this month, Derek and his colleagues in the House passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. This law is the largest long-lasting investment in our country's infrastructure in a generation, but Derek isn't done yet!

There's another bipartisan package on the horizon, and it includes a bill that Derek is championing in Congress: the RECOMPETE Act.

This legislation will help economically distressed communities get back on their feet by establishing a new federal grant program to provide flexible, long-term assistance. These grants will invest in workers, address local needs, create new jobs, and ensure communities can bounce back.

Derek is the lead co-sponsor on the RECOMPETE Act because he knows this bill will really work. Instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, Derek's bill is focused on local needs and would empower communities to make the best decisions for their own economic recovery.

The RECOMPETE Act focuses on communities that were struggling even before the COVID-19 pandemic. For these communities, returning to pre-pandemic normalcy is not good enough. The RECOMPETE Act will give them the jump start they need to build back better.
