When I got the call that United Women of Color was selected as a Groundwork Partner Organization, I jumped for joy! As the Executive Director of the organization, I can confidently tell you that this partnership will go a long way towards helping us grow our civic impact here in Huntsville — which is an absolutely critical region for those of us on the ground fighting to build a more just and equitable Alabama.
United Women of Color’s goal is to cultivate civic engagement, grassroots outreach, and provide community services to improve the lives of women, girls and families. Bottom line: We believe that every time we invest in a woman, we empower a family which in turn benefits the community.
Alabama has a lot of challenges to overcome but I am confident we can accomplish a lot together. Donate now to ensure we can best utilize our Groundwork Grant ASAP! [[link removed]]
The only way to play the long game in a state like Alabama is to have the financial support in the door early. From our “Vote Gone Viral” campaign to register and turnout disenfranchised voters during COVID-19 to our community advocacy around local police reform and our youth program for middle-school girls: We have big plans and big dreams. And we’re going to change the political trajectory of Alabama.
We are so eager to take our next steps forward with our Groundwork partnership and grant!
Can I count on you to give now? My team is ready to hit the ground running and put our GWP grant to good use immediately. [[link removed]]
Thank you so much. I look forward to sharing more about United Women of Color and community organizing here in Alabama in the coming weeks!
