Dear John,
Thanks to your help over the last few months, Congress is now on the verge of passing the largest investment in combating climate change in history with President Biden's Build Back Better Act — yet, Maine's Congressman Jared Golden still remains on the fence. That's why this past Saturday, more than 100 Mainers joined us for rallies outside of Congressman Golden’s Lewiston and Bangor offices to call on him to support this historic legislation.
We teamed up with eighteen partners from across the state, including early childhood education, economic justice, labor, environmental, women’s rights, and public health organizations, urging Congressman Golden to support this bill that will make transformative investments across our economy, social safety net, the environment, and so much more. Now we need your help in this final stretch to make sure Congressman Golden knows just how many Mainers support this important legislation. We anticipated a vote earlier this month, but Rep. Golden and others initiated a delay. The House is now expected to take its first vote on the historic bill this week, so will you call Congressman Golden and ask him to support the historic Build Back Better Act? It only takes one minute and we’ll walk you through the process. We'd like to thank all of the rally organizers across Maine who helped us make Saturday's events possible, including Environment Maine, EqualityMaine, Indivisible Bangor, JustME for JustUS, MaineAEYC, Maine Center for Economic Policy, Maine Council of Churches, Maine Equal Justice, Maine People’s Alliance, Maine Poor People’s Campaign, Maine Public Health Association, Maine Women's Lobby, SEA-SEIU Local 1989, Natural Resources Council of Maine, Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund, Sierra Club - Maine Chapter, and the Union of Concerned Scientists.
Whether or not you joined us on Saturday, we hope you can make one quick phone call to Congressman Golden's office right now and urge him to support the Build Back Better Act. Click here to start your call and we'll walk you through the process.
Onward, Abbie
