ELEPHANT EMERGENCY
ONE KILLED EVERY 15 MINUTES

WARNING, THIS EMAIL CONTAINS IMAGES SOME MIGHT FIND DISTRESSING

Dear John

A deafening gunshot ricochets through the trees. Petrified elephants run for cover in blind panic. Ruthless poachers shoot on sight, then use axes and chainsaws to hack off the tusks, whether the elephant is alive or dead.

DONATE TODAY TO STOP THE SLAUGHTER

This is the abject horror of ivory poaching, threatening elephants across Africa. The billion-pound illegal ivory trade is run by organised criminal networks. Entire families of elephants are gunned down by automatic weapons.

On average, an elephant is brutally killed every 15 minutes; that’s nearly 100 of these immense, intelligent, sociable and emotionally complex animals killed every day across Africa. Elephants are dying in agony, reduced to massive, bloody corpses for people’s greed.

YOUR GIFT COULD
SAVE THEM FROM EXTINCTION

But it’s not just the sickening cruelty. In the last 30 years, wild elephant numbers have dropped by 40%, to just 415,000 today. It is a conservation crisis.

And yet, there is hope. Since 1989, Born Free has fought tirelessly to end the ivory trade on every level. Your gift today can help this vital work to continue as we campaign for tighter legislation, support brave rangers, investigate the illegal ivory trade and crack down on armed poachers.

This work has already had an impact. Thanks to the hard work of the Kenya Wildlife Service, elephant numbers are on the up in Kenya.

We know you love elephants as we do. Please act now before it is too late. Every single pound you give will help stop the slaughter, resolve conflict and save the elephant.

Thank you.
