The continued cycle of once-unthinkable extreme weather events coupled with an ongoing global health crisis have confirmed that Minnesota and the Midwest are at serious risk—along with the rest of the world—and the time is now to act.

Fresh Energy has dedicated the last three decades to working on the climate crisis and thanks to our efforts, more Minnesotans than ever are talking about the role of clean energy in fighting climate change.

• End the decades-long pattern of investing in and incentivizing fossil gas that threatens to lock Minnesota into an unsustainable gas-dependent future. Using fossil gas in our homes and business poses serious health and safety risks—and is a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions in Minnesota. 
• Secure historic, unprecedented federal investments in clean energy, clean transportation, infrastructure, climate, and environmental justice. Bringing these resources to Minnesota will deliver meaningful local climate and equity-focused projects, promote family-supporting jobs, drive economic development in both rural and under-resourced communities, and spur innovation throughout all sectors of our economy.    
• Build a future-proof electric grid that can handle extreme weather, increased demand to move away from fossil fuels, and our growing carbon-free electricity supply. Investments in the grid now will serve us generations into a clean energy economy. 
• Push clean transportation to the next phase by advancing ambitious and equitable policies—from electric buses to zero-emissions medium and heavy-duty vehicles and everything in between—that will transform how we move our people and our goods in Minnesota.
