As you know, last month President Biden kicked-off a process that bans mineral leasing and permitting on Federal public lands near the Boundary Waters and allows for a comprehensive review of potential environmental impacts of sulfide-ore copper mining. This review could lead to a 20-year ban. However, the Biden administration announcement is only one of our necessary strategic tactics for permanent protection.
The wind is at our back, but we cannot stop fighting until the Boundary Waters Wilderness Watershed is permanently protected from toxic mining.
