The men and women of our military represent the very best of America. No doubt.
First as a cadet at West Point, then as a young Army officer, then both as CIA Director and Secretary of State, I pledged to defend America from “enemies foreign and domestic.” To accomplish that mission, we MUST have a strong and capable military.

When it came to securing American freedom abroad, the Trump Administration treated the world as it was, not as we wished it to be. We rebuilt our military and ensured our servicemen and women had the tools and resources necessary to keep the American people safe.
We stood behind our troops because they are the first line of our national defense. We made sure the world knew that we were no longer “leading from behind,” but it is because of the men and women who step forward to serve that the world knows it is not an empty promise.
Sadly, Joe Biden proposed a defense budget that fails to give our military men and women the funding and tools they need to do their job. In fact, Biden’s defense budget fails to even keep up inflation, effectively resulting in a cut to defense funding. That’s unacceptable.
We saw the devastating effects when President Obama pushed major cuts to our military, and now President Biden seems to be trying to do the exact same.
America needs leaders who stand with the men and women in uniform. A strong military is one of the best deterrents to war. As I’ve said many times: strength deters bad guys, weakness begets war.
The threats facing our country are serious and real. From China to Iran to North Korea, the threat environment is very dangerous and volatile. Now is the time to support our military with more resources, not less.
