Hi there,

363. That’s the number of children on the waitlist who need help before Christmas.

8 need a safe place to sleep - a cot.

11 need a safe way to travel - a car seat.

23 need a freedom machine - a pram to get to the supermarket or to an appointment.

More than half the children on our waitlist have been affected by the pandemic. Whether it be due to homelessness, a parent losing their job, or the strain of the pandemic causing mental health challenges in the family - these are all real issues that have hit children especially hard. And many of these children are from families just like yours and mine.

The great thing is that YOU have the ability to help today by donating to our Christmas Appeal. [[link removed]]AND an added superpower… to share that news with one friend and encourage them to donate what they can too.

$115 will provide a safe way for a child to travel, a car restraint. $187 will provide a safe place to sleep, a cot and mattress. You may even like to provide some cosy bedding for $30 or a clothing bundle for just $56.

One of the parents who has reached out for support is Sally. She’s a 36 year old single mum who until recently was forced to live in a small shed with her children. The tiny property had a make-do shower in the corner of the living room and an outdoor toilet which was difficult to bear on those icy winter mornings. After her son was born, her social worker (or in Sally’s words, guardian angel) helped her find a better house and got in touch with us to help with their fresh start. With your support, Sally’s children can feel proud and special with bundles of clothing, shoes and linen to keep them warm and toasty at night. Sally doesn’t have a pram either, just imagine how life changing these simple items could be for her and her children.

“If you are considering supporting Geelong Mums, please do. Your donation will help a family like mine through an incredibly tough time” - Sally

Can we rely on you today to help Sally and the other families on our long waitlist? There are only five weeks left for us to get urgent baby items to those who have asked for help and we don’t want to leave any child without the essentials. Christmas without a safe cot for a baby to sleep in, or a pram to make a trip to the shops easier, let alone toys and gifts, is the harsh reality for many of these families right now.

But we can change that, together.

Please donate today [[link removed]] so we can provide essential nursery equipment and those special extras to every family in need.

With love and thanks,

Ruth Holdaway MBE

CEO
