Kind-hearted Humanitarians,

As the winter cold gradually sweeps into the Borderlands, your help is needed. Right now, asylum seekers are not allowed to ask for asylum in the U.S. In their home countries, families are hearing that the border is open and pay $5-8,000 to a guide, only to be refused entrance after a long and dangerous trip to reach the US/Mexico border. They are devastated upon arrival. Some families return to dangerous home situations and others stay in border towns south of Arizona waiting until the border opens to asylum seekers, which may not be for months.

The Sonora Migrant Project helps those in Agua Prieta, Sasabe, and Nogales. We provide food, first aid, compassion and information along with our welcome to Sonora. Now as it gets colder, we want to provide warm outer garments: hoodies, gloves and knit caps. Men and women need new underwear. Babies need diapers. These are items which all the shelters are asking for.
