The entire political system is set up to protect the status quo and incumbents. Two examples:

WA’s partisan Redistricting Commission failed to issue new congressional maps based on the 2020 census data, so I may not know for several months where my precise district is. Grassroots campaigns like mine need more time to talk to voters than an incumbent does, because I don’t have the name ID of a sitting member of Congress.
The WA State Democratic Party refuses to either grant or deny me access to their voter file and canvassing software. Without a denial, I can’t buy a different voter file from the same software company. And the Party won’t give me access to the Party’s tools. So for the moment, I can’t use either tool. The Democratic Party is trying to prevent me from talking to voters — while pretending they’re not.

I know it can be hard to keep the faith. So often, the establishment wins. But you can’t win a fight you’re not in, and that’s why I stay in: because we deserve to win Medicare for All and the Green New Deal.
