Hello folks,

This week, I was proud to stand alongside my colleagues at the White House as we watched President Joe Biden sign our historic infrastructure bill into law.

And today, I’m proud to join President Biden and the Michigan Congressional Delegation at the General Motors’ new Factory ZERO electric vehicle Plant as we share how this legislation will invest in our future. I can’t think of a better place to kick off the second stop of this Build Back Better tour than none other than the Motor City!

The future of the auto industry is electric -- and like President Biden said, "we are going to make sure the jobs of the future end up in Michigan, not halfway around the world.” It’s no understatement to say that millions of Michiganders and Americans will benefit from this bill’s passage, and I can’t wait to see it implemented.

I’m also reminded of the fact that this would not have been possible without our Democratic majorities in Congress.

Let me explain to you just how monumental this bill is for Michigan. We’re going to start by improving our roads, bridges, dams, and waterways. It’s going to ensure everyone has access to clean and safe drinking water, clean energy options, and broadband internet. We’re going to invest in electric vehicle infrastructure, reduce emissions to protect our environment, and so much more.

Manufacturing, STEM, and all things auto are my bread and butter. That’s why I’m particularly excited about these electric vehicle investments. What the infrastructure package delivers on will be simultaneously revolutionary for advancing the automotive industry and fighting against climate change. A win-win!

In the weeks to come, I’m looking forward to meeting with MI-11 residents and discussing how we’ll begin repairing our infrastructure here at home.
