I wanted you to hear this news from me personally. After evaluating the new congressional map and the impact it will have not only on my race, but on the landscape we find ourselves in up and down the ticket, I have come to the difficult decision to end my campaign for Congress and focus on the work at hand in the Montana House of Representatives.

Right now, our communities need leaders who know how to listen and work with others, no matter their political affiliation, to deliver results. I believe the best way for me to continue to serve my fellow Montanans is by continuing to lead the Democratic party at the state level.

I am so thankful to have had this opportunity to run for Congress, and grateful for everyone who joined us — each and every one of you who read my emails, signed a petition, made a grassroots donation, attended an event, or signed up to volunteer made a difference. We ran a campaign focused on people, and I’m so proud of the work we were able to accomplish in just a few months. Over 1,300 people contributed to our campaign and nearly 80% of the contributions we raised came from Montanans.

I will continue to be a voice for those who feel like politicians have turned their back on them, and I encourage anyone who wants to be a part of building a more inclusive, balanced, and decent future for Montana to start by investing in their own community and running for local office.
