Hi Friend,

As quickly as it came, the Special Session of the Nevada Legislature is
now over, and we’ve got some new Congressional, Legislative, and Board of
Regents districts to show for it. If you were following along from home,
I’ve been [ [link removed] ]Out in Front of the Carson City capitol building each of the
5 days of this session to share the latest updates on how the process was
coming along, and connecting you with resources to participate!

I was proud to have members of the Nevadans Count coalition join me each
day as we spoke out fiercely for the inclusion of community input in these
maps that will shape Nevada’s political future for the next decade. Sadly,
not all of our coalition partner’s concerns were heard this past weekend.
The maps that ultimately passed did include some suggested changes, such
as placing Walker River Paiute Tribe within one district. But nearly
300,000 Latino voters who reside in the current Congressional District 1
in Southern Nevada now find their community divided up between Districts
1, 3, and 4.

If you missed what happened over this past weekend during the Special
Session, get caught up with the highlights by checking out our Out in
Front episodes! We went live [ [link removed] ]Friday, [ [link removed] ]Saturday, [ [link removed] ]Sunday, [ [link removed] ]Monday,
and [ [link removed] ]Tuesday to discuss all the map-drawing developments and what the
community was saying every step of the way.

We’ll be taking a break from Out in Front for the holidays. Please have a
restful and safe holiday weekend next week! We’ll be back with more Out in
Front starting Thursday, December 2nd, so mark your calendar for the big
return!

See you soon,
