John,
Did you know the inventors of insulin sold its patent for $1 nearly 100 years ago—so that this life-saving medicine would be available to all?
That's not what happened, however.
Instead of honoring that intention, the three companies who control 90% of the world's insulin supply—Eli Lilly, Sanofi, and Novo Nordisk—have worked in tandem to systematically raise prices.
Did you see yesterday's email from Deborah about how the Build Back Better legislation finally caps the price of insulin? Read her email below, then demand Congress pass the historic Build Back Better Act, including a cap on the price of insulin and other lifesaving medicine.
Together, we’re fighting back against Big Pharma greed!

Tell Congress:
Stand up to Big Pharma greed! Pass the cap on the price of insulin and allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices in the Build Back Better Act today!

John,
Why are the American people still getting ripped off on essential medicines like insulin? The answer: Big Pharma greed. That's the simple reason why insulin, and so many other essential medicines, are so expensive in our country.
In fact, Americans pay the highest prices for insulin in the world.
In the US, just one unit of this life-saving drug costs $98.70, but in Canada, a vial costs $12 and in the United Kingdom, it’s only $7.25.
The price of insulin in the United States has increased more than 1,400% over the past 25 years.
The good news: We are close to a solution. Included within the Build Back Better Act is a cap on insulin prices at $35 a month. But it's up to us to demand Congress pass this historic legislation.

FACT: 7 million people in this country need insulin every day to survive, but 1 in 4 are forced to ration their medicine because it’s too expensive.
That’s why majorities of Democrats, Republicans and Independents all support efforts to lower drug prices contained in the Build Back Better Act, including an insulin price cap.

There are no shortages of challenges facing our country. Thank you for your constant efforts to fight to ensure children, the sick, and the poor don't fall through the cracks in our society.
Thank you,
