** Finding LGBTQ Funding Solutions With PEAK Florida
------------------------------------------------------------
Approximately 18 million LGBTQ adults live in the United States, but for every $100 awarded by US foundations, only 28 cents support LGBTQ issues. Last month, PEAK Florida and a panel of Equality Florida staff and funders led a discussion about solutions, tools, and best grantmaking practices and policies that minimize bias, promote inclusion, and increase LGBTQ equitable giving within philanthropic institutions. Watch the session on-demand here ([link removed]) .
Kudos to PEAK Florida: Continue leading the way!

** PEAK in Community
------------------------------------------------------------
The latest news about our sector partnerships and how PEAK is advocating for more equitable grantmaking practices at conferences, convenings, and community conversations.
At Philanthropy Northwest’s The Future is Forward virtual conference, PEAK’s Satonya Fair gave a presentation designed to help participants understand the importance of transparency and communication when collecting demographic data to maximize insight, impact, and equity. She also moderated the closing panel, which featured philanthropy leaders who are moving funds to racial justice and systems change, redefining grantee partnerships, centering community voices, and transforming the role of funders as a result.
At Blackbaud’s bbcon 2021, Satonya joined Greater Washington Community Foundation CEO Tonia Wellons for a session on how the current state of grantmaking and foundation practices have changed throughout the past year in the face of the dual pandemics of COVID-19 and racial injustice.
Satonya joined a Council of Michigan Foundations panel with Sandra Swirski of Urban Swirski & Associates and Independent Sector’s Jeff Moore to talk federal policy and actionable advocacy, helping to frame the many ways equity is being defined and advanced at various policy levels.
The PEAK membership team met with Philanos, a national network of women's giving circles, to discuss ways that we can collectively drive equity in the ever-evolving sector of philanthropy.
Satonya hosted the opening plenary for Philanthropy West Virginia’s First Attempt in Learning (FAIL) Festival. This high-energy panel, designed to celebrate failure as a mark of innovation, risk-taking, and learning, featured Paul Daugherty of Philanthropy West Virginia, Cathy McAlister, Highmark Foundation, and George Montgomery, Jr. of the African American Philanthropy in Action Giving Circle.
PEAK’s Chantias Ford hosted a tailored three-part learning series for United Way Greater Atlanta, a new PEAK Organization Member. The sessions introduced PEAK resources and combined information from PEAK's Grants Management 101 program with best practices for equitable grantmaking, including increasing flexibility, streamlining application processes, and shifting reporting requirements; plus opportunities for internal assessment and reflection, and actionable next steps to move towards equitable grantmaking.
