John,
When A.G. Holder emailed you this week, he said: “Republicans are trying to obtain power without the consent of the American people.” [[link removed]]
Throughout my time observing AOTL’s redistricting work in states like North Carolina and Georgia, I can say that it’s true -- he’s right.
As states continue to draft, release, and vote on maps, we need your help.
Can I count on you to make a donation right now to support our movement?

Subject: Conservatives are weakening the foundation of our democracy

Friend -- Too many conservatives are weakening the foundation of our democracy.
In Georgia, right-wing ideologues have passed six voter suppression laws this year and GOP legislators are currently drawing gerrymandered maps during a special legislative session that eliminate competitive districts and completely ignore community input.
Republicans -- not just in Georgia -- are trying to secure power before a single ballot is cast and without the consent of the American people.
There is still time to stop this conservative backlash to an electorate that has already soundly rejected their politics, but we could use your help to fight back.

During times like this, I'm reminded of the wise words from my friend, Congressman John Lewis.
He said: "Your vote is precious, almost sacred. It is the most powerful nonviolent tool we have to create a more perfect union.”
I believe too many conservatives understand what John Lewis said is true and feel threatened by the power of voters -- why else would they pass 33 laws in 19 states that make it harder to vote? This also explains why all but one Republican in Congress voted against even debating the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and why not a single one supported debating the Freedom to Vote Act.
Earlier this year, Georgians endured widespread voter suppression -- and despite all odds, overcame the attacks on their right to vote and sent two pro-democracy senators to represent them in Congress. I say this because the yet-to-be finalized maps in Georgia should reflect this political reality.
All On The Line’s work to quickly analyze maps, amplify public testimony opportunities, and push elected officials is the surest path to fair maps where Republicans otherwise control the process.
We do this work because our very democracy depends on it. We can't allow far-right elements of a political party with minority support to halt progress on the issues where progress is so badly needed.
Will you make a donation to All On The Line right now? Passing commonsense democracy legislation and achieving fair maps will combat conservative plans to undermine our political system.

With your support, we will look back on this moment as a turning point for our democracy.
