THE FORUM

NOVEMBER 2021 EDITION

Throughout the year, the Forum has been at the forefront of the most
pressing immigration issues.

Your support helped us build bipartisan coalitions, advocate for
constructive solutions on immigration, highlight the contributions of
essential workers and the foreign-born workforce, and push for the swift
evacuation and resettlement of our Afghan allies and refugees.

We couldn't have done any of these activities without contributions
from people like you.

**Thank you!**

**Leading the Way** on meaningful debate on bipartisan immigration
solutions

At the Forum, we lead, convene, and guide debate, with the purpose of
influencing policy. One way we work to open hearts and minds is through
events, and more specifically through our annual convening,

**Leading the Way**.

At this year's event, we gathered

**over** 1,200 individuals from across the political spectrum and
industries to discuss and consider bipartisan solutions for a path
forward on immigration. We had a great slate of topics and speakers
including

**Filippo Grandi**, UN High Commissioner for Refugees;

**Ur M. Jaddou**, Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services;

**Tom Linebarger**, Chairman and CEO of Cummins Inc.;

**Pati Jinich**, Chef, Author, TV Host of PBS La Frontera;

**Congressman Adam Kinzinger**, 16th District of Illinois;

**Congressman Jason Crow**, 6th District of Colorado, and many more.

Mobilizing and advocating for our Afghan allies and refugees

[link removed]

At the core of our work, we activate people to advance informed
immigration policy. During the U.S. troop withdrawal of Afghanistan this
summer, we urged the Biden administration to evacuate and resettle our
Afghan allies and refugees promptly. Additionally, we held

**89** Hill meetings with dozens of congressional offices and

**2** congressional briefings with

**137** unique attendees from across the political spectrum; launched a
digital call to action campaign where we made

**over**

**1,200** connections to legislators and the Biden administration to
gather support for our Afghan allies and refugees; generated dozens of
media hits; helped raise money for our partner organizations working on
resettlement efforts and more.

The U.S. welcomed more than

**123,000** Afghans and their families -- and our work in supporting
their resettlement and integration is far from over. We're urging
Congress to pass the **Afghan Adjustment Act**
,
a piece of legislation that would allow Afghan parolees to have an
opportunity to seek lawful permanent resident status. For more on this
act and to **take action now, click here >>**

Implementing solutions to integrate the foreign-born workforce

Our work goes beyond advocacy on immigration solutions. We also work
with major businesses on solutions for building work site skills and
unlocking career pathways for the foreign-born workforce. The Forum's

**English at Work** program teaches customized English and digital
literacy skills for limited-English-proficient employees to better
interact with customers and increase their career and earning
potential.This year, we celebrated our 5-year partnership with Whole
Foods. Through this partnership, we've helped countless employees gain
the language skills needed to succeed. As a result, employees have
improved their English language skills and digital literacy and advanced
their careers. Learn more about our

**English at Work** program **here**
