Cape Town CityFest

Known as the ‘Mother City’, beautiful Cape Town remains racially and economically polarized 25 years since the end of apartheid. It is one of the world’s most dangerous cities in a country ranked the world’s most unequal by the World Bank last year.

While 87% of residents identify as Christians, South Africa Team Leader Thuens Pauw comments "having lived almost 40 years around Cape Town, I can testify that most are nominal".

The Love Cape Town CityFest is a three-way partnership between African Enterprise, the Luis Palau Association and more than 700 churches and ministries in Cape Town. Over two intense weeks the gospel will be proclaimed throughout the city using AE’s stratified evangelism model. The mission theme is

Does God have your heart?

"‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me" (Isaiah 29:13)

Please pray:

*
For local believers who will go out in small groups to reach out to individuals; that the Spirit would go before them and they would be bold and clear in their witness.
*
That the message of the gospel will find fertile soil in hearts in Cape Town, and that new converts will be welcomed into gospel churches and discipled.
*
For Christian groups at schools and universities to be effective in discipleship and reaching out to their fellow students.
*
For the local churches involved – that they will be strengthened over the long term as a result of the training and the experience they have received through being part of this Mission.
*
Pray for the major Festival in Mitchell’s Plain on 16 November. The team is preparing for more than 20,000 people to attend from all over the city. Andrew Palau will evangelise – pray that many respond.

Staff profile: Theuns Pauw , AE South Africa Team Leader

Theuns joined AE in 2017 after 10 years in pastoral ministry.

Rugby player and former prodigal, Theuns brings great passion and energy to the role. He is married to Charlene, who was led to the Lord through Michael Cassidy when she was 18! They have three young children.

Please pray for him as he co-ordinates this massive event in Cape Town and that he might ‘run in such a way as to get the prize… a crown that will last forever’ (1 Corinthians 9:24-5) over the long term.
