Hi John — This is big: Congress could be voting as soon as today on the Build Back Better Act, which includes an historic $5 billion in funding for gun violence prevention. Contact your elected leaders NOW and urge them to support this crucial investment.

Now that Congress has finally passed the infrastructure bill they’ve been negotiating for months, their attention has turned to President Biden’s Build Back Better Act, which will invest in the infrastructure that will help build safe, healthy, thriving communities.

The Build Back Better Act includes $5 billion in funding for community violence intervention programs. This would represent an unprecedented federal investment in the kind of programs that we know work to prevent the community gun violence that disproportionately harms our Black and brown communities. In short, it would be an enormous step toward treating gun violence like the public health emergency that it is.

That’s why we need your help. You have, no doubt, heard that debate about the cost of these bills has been intense. But we can’t afford anything less than this $5 billion. Lives depend on it. So please, email your Representative and Senators today and demand they pass the Build Back Better Act.
