The Washington State Redistricting Commission failed last night to issue a new map by the deadline. This means I might not even know what towns and counties are in my district until April 30. I need your help to fight back against this undemocratic, untransparent process. Can you rush $7 now to help me do that? Thank you!

For the first time in Washington State’s history, the commission failed to do its job: establish a new map for our state’s congressional districts.

To recap:

They conducted last night’s “public” meeting entirely in private, likely in violation of state law.
Their backroom dealing and secret horse trading failed to produce an agreement.
As a result, the state Supreme Court has to step in and has until April 30 to release a new map.
If that happens, we’ll only have three weeks to get acquainted with the new district lines before formally filing our candidacy, and only three months to mount a full campaign before the primary.

John, this is a process guaranteed to protect incumbents and the status quo. It disenfranchises voters who deserve to know who their representatives are — and have a real say in choosing a new one.

I am joining two fellow WA working-class, populist candidates, Jason Call (WA-02) and Stephanie Gallardo (WA-09), in condemning the commission’s failure. WA voters deserve better.
