shrinking for years. With ad revenues down, news outlets are facing
increasing pressure to turn a profit for their corporate investors by
cutting jobs, short-changing real journalism as a result.
But a strong, independent press has never been more important. With an
impeachment inquiry, the climate in crisis, massive inequality, and the
upcoming election — there's so much at stake. But without a free press
to expose the real stories and cover the facts, our democracy doesn't
work.
At Common Dreams, we don't fund our newsroom with corporate advertising,
and we're not driven by earning a profit. We're nonprofit, independent
news—our only purpose is to cover the stories that matter. But we can't
do it without your help.
