This is a critical position
xxxxxx,
One of the most common questions we get on the campaign trail is, “what does the Lieutenant Governor do?”
So, while Erick is busy in the special legislative session, I wanted to take a minute to break it down for you.
Here’s what the Lieutenant Governor does:
- Presides over the Georgia Senate. The Lieutenant Governor has the ability to call votes on bills, assign Senators to committees, and preside over all legislative processes.
- Performs executive duties. The Governor gives specific duties to the Lieutenant Governor, including overseeing executive departments and managing government services.
- Ensures a stable line of succession. If our Governor were unable to exercise their duties, the Lieutenant Governor would take over and keep our state government running.
So, what does all that mean?
- As President of the Senate, Erick will have a major influence over the legislative agenda, and he’ll use that influence to put progressive priorities on the table in our state government.
- As a State Executive, Erick will use his experience, expertise, and leadership to work with state departments and ensure efficient, cost-effective, and collaborative delivery of services.
- If, for whatever reason, our Governor were temporarily unable to perform their duties, Erick would ensure that our state continues to run smoothly and meet the needs of everyday Georgians.
This is a critical role, y’all, and Erick is the right man for the job. If you agree, click here to personally endorse Erick’s campaign for Lieutenant Governor today.
Thanks!
— Felicia
