1 in 5 health care workers has left medicine since the start of the pandemic.
Why? Lack of pay. Insufficient PPE. Grief. Death. Overcrowding. Understaffing. Disrespect. Exhaustion. Frustration. The list goes on and on.
Those who have amplified vaccine conspiracies and attempted to undermine the voices of public health experts have prolonged the COVID-19 pandemic and forced public health workers to endure impossible conditions.
After nearly 2 years of battling this virus, many Americans have given up on social distancing and put the coronavirus out of their minds. But doctors, nurses, and health care workers don't have the luxury of forgetting about COVID-19 as this pandemic continues to claim the lives of Americans.

Throughout this pandemic, Dr. Battino has helped immunocompromised Wisconsinites fight cancer as a radiologist. All the while, the COVID-19 pandemic threatened the recovery and progress that she fought to help her patients achieve.
Health care workers are our heroes. They have put their own health on the line in order to save the lives of others, and we cannot let health care workers think we've forgotten about them.
