For decades, I have been fighting back against the Far Right’s attempts to undermine progress on many of the issues that we hold dear, working alongside some of our country’s most fearless leaders in progressive advocacy. And in recent years I, like so many, have become alarmed at the rising far-right movement that has grown exponentially during Trump’s time in office.

People for the American Way

Friend,

For decades, I have been fighting back against the Far Right’s attempts to undermine progress on many of the issues that we hold dear, working alongside some of our country’s most fearless leaders in progressive advocacy. And in recent years I, like so many, have become alarmed at the rising far-right movement that has grown exponentially during Trump’s time in office.

It’s why, when asked to join the board of People For the American Way – an organization that was founded 40 years ago explicitly to fight back against rising right-wing extremism – I immediately said yes.

And as part of the People For family, I was proud to join one of the recent civil disobedience events at the White House – protesting in support of voting rights legislation and demanding that President Biden do more to protect one of our most sacred rights – and getting arrested for doing so.

This fight reminds me of so many that I’ve been involved in throughout the years, experiences that I have chronicled in my new book reflecting on my decades-long activism – from the HIV/AIDS crisis, world poverty, gun violence, reproductive freedoms, the #MeToo movement, and so much more. As a People For supporter and someone dedicated to the core American values of democracy, equality, and justice for all, I think you’ll enjoy reading the firsthand accounts of my experiences during these decades of fighting and some reflections on how we can persevere in the years ahead.

Radical Right extremists are trying to turn back the clock on a century of advances in civil rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights, the social safety net and more… they’re waging an all-out assault on the fundamental pillars of our country – democracy, checks and balances, a fair and independent judicial branch, and core values like fairness, equality, and justice for all.

People For is fighting back every day with:

✔ Grassroots organizing
✔ Lobbying and advocacy
✔ Research and education
✔ Voter mobilization
✔ And more…

But we can’t do this vital work without the robust grassroots financial support of our members and activists.

Please help fund the fight for progress and stand against right-wing extremism with an urgently needed donation to People For today>>
