Hi there, in a moment, I’m going to ask you to make a contribution to our campaign before our mid-quarter deadline expires at midnight. But first, I hope you will give me a chance to explain why this request is so important, especially right now.

Two weeks ago, Virginians elected a pro-Trump candidate as governor in a state President Biden won by 10 points. It was the first time Democrats have lost a statewide election in Virginia in a decade.

Now, political pundits predict several of my Democratic Senate colleagues are at risk of losing re-election in 2022, moving three race rankings to “toss-ups.”

Mitch McConnell is also “feeling optimistic” about Republicans’ chances of reclaiming the Senate majority and putting a stop to our progress.

Between passing the American Rescue Plan, expanding the Child Tax Credit, and now, passing the bipartisan infrastructure plan, Democrats have made incredible progress so far, but we’re just getting started. If we are going to continue making good on our promise to build back better for working families, it’s clear we need to protect our Senate majority.

But we must come to terms with the hard truth that McConnell and his allies could easily squeak by next November if we do nothing to stop them. So here comes the part where I ask for your help:
