John,
President Biden and his team just returned from the United Nations climate negotiations, where they spent two weeks claiming that the U.S. is a world leader in climate action.
Yet tomorrow, the administration is planning to lease over 80 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico for new oil and gas drilling. That's not climate leadership.
Will you send a message to the White House right now and demand that President Biden cancel these plans for new offshore drilling?

The Department of Interior is preparing to sell 80 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico to the fossil fuel industry. Offshore drilling has been polluting Gulf communities with toxic chemicals and oil spills for decades. Expanding this drilling would continue to threaten the people and wildlife that call the Gulf home.
And don’t forget: we can’t afford any new oil and gas drilling if we hope to avoid the worst impacts of the climate crisis. More offshore drilling is absolutely the wrong thing to do, and it breaks a major campaign promise that Biden made to end offshore drilling.
President Biden has taken some promising actions to keep fossil fuels in the ground, like stopping the Keystone XL pipeline and abandoning a plan for more oil drilling in Alaska. But we need him to oppose fossil fuel projects across the board and end the harmful, destructive policies of the past.
Stop Offshore Drilling

The lease sale is supposed to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, November 17th. That's why we need you to act today. The White House could step in and stop the sale at any time, but it will take an enormous amount of grassroots pressure to make that happen. Tell President Biden to stop offshore drilling now!

Food & Water Watch is working with hundreds of organizations across the country to demand that President Biden reject fossil fuels to protect our communities and our climate. He has the power to stop dangerous projects like pipelines, export terminals, and fracking on federal lands and waters. Our movement is large and powerful, but we’re running out of time to stop the worst effects of the climate crisis.
It’s critical that President Biden and his staff hear from you. I hope you’ll join me and call for an end to offshore drilling today.
