By now, you’ve probably heard the news: yesterday, former Congressman Beto O’Rourke threw his hat in the ring to defeat Greg Abbott next November -- giving us another strong candidate to rally Texans in the fight for our future.

Friend, if it feels like this time under Greg Abbott’s tyranny has been too exhausting to express -- you’re not alone. We’ve faced attack after attack this year. On our rights and freedoms. On our communities and our future. On the people we love.

I’m angry. I’m disappointed. And despite it all, I’m ready to fight back. If we’re going to avoid another four years of the same failed Republican leadership Texans have been enduring for far too long, we need to get to work. And we need you with us in the fight.

Governor Abbott has shown us all year long why he is unfit to lead our state. Too many times he’s put profit over people, prioritized his political agenda over fixing the problems in our state, put Texans' lives in jeopardy to pander to right-wing extremists. Texans deserve better. And that’s what this fight is about.

With Beto turning up the heat in the race, we’re one step closer to defeating Greg Abbott. But right now, we’ve got to seize the moment and remind every Texas voter what’s at stake in this election. So, I’m asking: will you chip in $7 to lay that groundwork for victory today?

We cannot risk another four years of Governor Abbott at the helm. We can’t afford more devastating winter power outages like the ones Abbott failed to protect us from in February. We can’t endure seeing our rights and freedoms hijacked again under Abbott’s far-right, extremist agenda. We can’t continue to put Texans in danger because Abbott refuses to prioritize public health. Friend, the bottom line is Abbott cannot be in leadership a single day longer.

In just one short year, voters all across our state will have an important choice to make -- between Democratic leaders like Beto O’Rourke who are fighting every day for working people, and failed Republican leadership like that of Governor Abbott, hellbent on making life harder for working families. That means we have one year to ensure every Democratic voter knows the choice is clear.
