Dear John,
We’re so close! The budget reconciliation bill that includes important improvements to programs relied on by millions of older Americans is expected to pass in the House of Representatives this week.
And then it will go to the Senate for approval, where we need to ensure provisions that include lowering prescription drug costs and expanding Medicare to include coverage for hearing aids and examinations remain in the final bill.
Yet, as you know, the main obstacles to passing this bill in the Senate are Senators Joe Manchin (WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) who have voiced opposition to drug pricing reforms and expanding Medicare in the past. We simply cannot pass this bill without their support. That’s why we need to put the full weight of the National Committee’s million+ members and supporters behind our urgent campaign to get this historic reconciliation bill over the finish line in Congress.
Make no mistake, the involvement of informed and passionate National Committee supporters like you has been instrumental in winning historic legislative victories on behalf of older Americans. When you band together with other like-minded Americans you can have enormous clout on Capitol Hill!
So please, with so much at stake for older adults like you, take action now and urge Senators Manchin and Sinema to support measures that will enable more older Americans to afford their prescription drugs and gain access to hearing aids and examinations, which are critical for healthy aging.
Sincerely,
|
