Once again, John, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) has let Democratic legislation hang in limbo as he remains the last Democrat to make a decision on this vote. Even though President Biden directly worked with Manchin to pare down his proposed Build Back Better agenda, Manchin refused to commit to passing the legislation.
The Build Back Better Act is a 10-year long program intended to mitigate climate change and expand social programs like Medicaid, Medicare, and universal preschool. Manchin has complained that the bill is too expensive — but if we don’t aggressively address these major issues like climate crisis now, how much will we pay in the future?
