John,
This is a long, but important email about the approach I will take in Congress. Please take a moment to read it, then consider chipping in $3 to help me meet my mid-quarter deadline to unseat GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy.
As a teacher of junior high English for 21 years, I'm privileged to spend every single day inspired by the youth in whom our future rests. My kiddos amaze me with their ability to adapt and push through challenges.
Getting them back to school this past year has been tough, and teachers are playing many new roles. We don't just teach -- we lend an ear to listen or sometimes even a shoulder to cry on.
Teachers know well that parents and kids in our community face complex issues. In Congress, it’s my promise that every vote I make will be grounded in whether or not it truly meets the needs of everyone in this community. We need good jobs and dignified wages; accessible, affordable healthcare; quality education and resources for kids; and proper management of our land and water resources to keep them clean.
Call me old fashioned, but I think this is how Congress should operate. My opponent Kevin McCarthy on the other hand answers to corporate and special interests who write large checks. He's blocking good legislation in DC because they depend on him returning the favor. It's that simple.
It's unacceptable that our current representative is doing so much to hurt our community. We must do something about it -- that's why I'm running for Congress and why I'm asking:
We're officially halfway through this fundraising quarter, but not yet halfway to the target we need to hit in order to meet our goal to DEFEAT Kevin McCarthy. Now that you know what type of congresswoman I'd be, can you kick in $3 today to help us meet the mark?
