Dear John,
Five years ago this month, Sister District was born. We’re continuously in awe of how much the Sister District family has achieved together, and right now we’re taking a moment to reflect upon our growth and successes over the last half-decade.
In the last five years, we have:
- Raised $4,243,691 directly for candidates
- Made 1,385,851 phone calls
- Sent 1,003,616 text messages
- Knocked 96,493 doors
- Written 939,813 postcards
- Elected over 70 state legislators
- Conducted 28 academic experiments on voter and volunteer behavior
- Funded 10 community-based organizations in 9 states through State Bridges
- Trained 16 former candidates to run for office again in 11 states through Future Winners
- Brought together 58 progressive state legislators from 32 different chambers through Purple District Network
The next five years will be just as pivotal for our country as the last. We’re committed to staying in the fight, and it starts with the 2022 midterms. Next year, we will be prioritizing states with nested competitive Senate, House, and Gubernatorial elections, and states with redistricting commissions where we expect new maps to be fairer for Democrats.
If you agree that our democracy is worth fighting for, help us expand our work in 2022 with a gift today! The money we raise now will go directly to our 2022 programming, kickstarting our work organizing volunteers, persuading voters, and driving Democratic turnout up and down the ticket.
We started Sister District out of despair that the Trump presidency would irrevocably harm our beloved democracy. But we keep going because of the thousands of people like you, who have stepped up and donated their hard-earned dollars and precious time to help strengthen our state legislatures.
In solidarity, Lala, Gaby, and Lyzz Sister District Co-Founders
P.S. Mark your calendars: in two weeks we’ll be participating in Giving Tuesday! It’s the biggest giving day of the year, and we’re thrilled to join thousands of other non-profit organizations this year.
