Hey friends,
Kimberly here. I'd like to share with you where we've been and where we're going next.
The last few weeks:
We've had a great last couple of weeks. Here's where we were and what we did:
- I was on a panel with Iowa State Senator Rob Hogg and Representative Art Staed at the Accessibility, Inclusion and Outreach event presented by the Iowa Democratic Party Disability Caucus. Catherine Christ and crew did an amazing job.
Like Senator Tom Harkin, disability justice is incredibly important to me. My brother is a person with a disability. I want him and everyone with disabilities to live lives of dignity and opportunity, with good healthcare. That's just one reason I'm fighting for universal, single-payer healthcare.

- I also spoke at the Linn County Hall of Fame dinner. A fun night honoring devoted Democrats in the community. Thanks to the Linn County Dems for the invitation and beautiful event.

- I was honored to attend and speak at the last of the Passport to Victory 2020 events in the first congressional district. I've attended all of these monthly events, which started in June this year. Catherine Christ, Laura Hubka and so many others put these together and there were usually 250-400 people in attendance, often in very rural areas. So much for the idea our rural counties don't have a lot of active, dedicated Democrats! They abso-freaking-lutely do! Over the summer and into the fall, I talked with so many energized and hard-working people who are going to help us flip this state bright BLUE in 2020!
- I was so thrilled, too, to hear Matt Tappscott announce his run for Iowa State Senate. We need Matt to win. A veteran and child care provider, he will be a treasure in the Iowa Senate and will stand up for kids, families and working people.
- This past Sunday, I went to Council Bluffs to knock doors for my friend Jill Shudak. If you live in CB, please cast your vote November 5th for Jill Shudak for School Board. She wants to increase mental health services for kids in our schools and we need that so much.
Two pieces of great news for our campaign too:
- Brand New Congress endorsed me!
- We won the Iowa Youth Straw Poll among the Democrat candidates!!!! Middle and high schoolers all over Iowa got to vote on Presidential and US Senate Candidates. We won!
I'm going to work so very hard to turn out our young voters for the June primary and in November. It will be their future longer than it will be mine and they need to be heard, honored and represented in the US Senate. My 20 year old son, and all our Iowa youth, need a future they can believe in, with healthcare as a human right, a healthy planet and good jobs.
What's coming next:
Hope to see you soon.
Onward to justice for all!
- Kimberly
