Dear friend,
Today, FAMM released a new report describing the need for second chances for people serving extreme sentences in Pennsylvania. The report is full of data and stories about how Pennsylvania's mandatory sentences and limits on parole have created a rapidly aging, expensive prison population.

Our Second Chances Agenda holds the solution for Pennsylvania and many other states like it: Create laws to allow for parole and resentencing, expand release opportunities for the ill and elderly in prison, abolish mandatory sentences and make those changes retroactive, make clemency more accessible.
In 2022, FAMM will be advancing its Second Chances Agenda by supporting reforms from Washington state to Washington, D.C.
Over the past two weeks, we have convened more than 80 advocates and experts to plan how we can better advance second look laws and compassionate release reforms. From these meetings, we're getting smarter and learning more about where we need to work harder.
We recently sent information about second look resentencing laws to more than 3,000 lawmakers in 21 states across the country, letting them know that FAMM is available to help if they want to introduce legislation to give people second chances.
Whether you live in Pennsylvania or not, I hope you enjoy today's report. We will be fighting for second chances across the country in 2022.
