John,

Today marks the beginning of our fall campaign to make NC safer through common sense gun laws and programs. You should have received a letter last week outlining our 2021 impacts. You may also have seen the op-ed by NCGV Board Member, Gerald Givens, Jr., in the News and Observer yesterday with his moving personal story and highlighting the work that needs to be done. With your support this year, we were able to push back against bad legislation, such as the repeal of the state’s pistol purchase permit, ensuring NC’s pistol permitting system stayed intact to prevent the diversion of illegal firearms into the communities suffering most from daily gun violence. But, there is still much to do in the months and years ahead to prevent gun violence across NC. Can we count on you to help us reach our goal of a safer NC?

We know our work plays a key role in preventing gun violence in NC through advocacy and education. In 2021, we also advocated for additional grant funding for new and existing community violence intervention programs. These initiatives focus on individuals at the highest risk of violence, and use prevention and intervention strategies to reduce violence and retaliation. Working with our allies, we were successful in getting the Governor’s Crime Commission to prioritize grant funding for these programs.

Your support during this season of giving will allow us to continue to fight for common sense gun laws across NC. We believe that our commitment to education alongside advocacy is critical to making an impact on gun violence. Join us in this commitment with a gift today to the NCGV Education Fund and/or NCGV Action Fund.

For a safer NC,
Becky

P.S. — Your gift will be doubled! Thanks to a collection of anonymous donors, we are matching gifts up to $8,000 until 12/31/21. Donate to the NCGV Education Fund and/or NCGV Action Fund to help us reach our goal!
